James D. Cullen



Partner

Mr. Cullen is a senior partner with MacDonald Illig.  As Chairman of the firm's Trusts & Estates group, Mr. Cullen concentrates primarily in the areas of estate and tax planning, charitable gifting techniques, estate and trust administration and elder law.

In his trust practice, Mr. Cullen prepares wills and trust documents, undertakes the administration of decedent's estates and serves as legal advisor to corporate fiduciaries.  Working closely with local banks, securities brokers, accountants, insurance agents and financial planners, Mr. Cullen provides estate planning services suited to each client's objectives.

Jim has lectured on wills, trusts and estate planning for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, National Business Institute and for numerous schools, social clubs, community organizations and employee groups.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Cullen received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a degree in Accounting from John Carroll University in 1969 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law, 1972.  Currently a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Erie County Bar Associations, Mr. Cullen is also a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Sections of the American and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, the Estate Planning Council of Erie and has served on the Boards of numerous charitable organizations in the community.
