Craig Murphey, Chair of MacDonald Illig's Insurance Practice Group, has been a civil litigator for over 20 years. He concentrates his practice in three primary areas: Insurance coverage, insured defense and commercial litigation.
Craig has represented and advised insurance carriers in numerous types of coverage matters over the years, including those involving automobile policies, homeowner's policies and commercial general liability policies. He has successfully represented insurers in many cases that have resulted in reported decisions that have shaped Pennsylvania insurance Law, particularly in the area of uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
Craig has litigated insurance matters in state and federal courts, and has represented and counseled insurers in many aspects of their relationship with their insureds, including those involving claims of bad faith, fraud and breach of contract.
Craig has also represented insureds in disputes with their insurance carriers over coverage, defense and claim handling.
Craig is also a commercial litigator, representing companies and individuals in a wide variety of commercial lawsuits, including business torts, contract disputes and claims of breach of fiduciary or contractual duties.
Craig has been honored by his peers and clients as an outstanding lawyer and leader. He is the immediate past president of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute. He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2012 (copyright 2011 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). He was also selected as a 2011 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.
