J. W. Alberstadt, Jr. Joins MacDonald Illig

J.W. Alberstadt, Jr., has joined the law firm of MacDonald Illig Jones & Britton LLP, effective July 1, 2009. Jay brings more than 30 years of experience representing individuals and organizations in real estate, commercial & economic development, conventional & tax-exempt financing, and estate planning to MacDonald Illig. He joins the firm as a partner and will co-chair the firm's real estate practice group. He will also be a member of the firm's business transactions, government services & public finance, and trusts & estates practice groups.

Alberstadt, who earned his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a B.A. from Gannon University, is President-Elect of the Erie County Bar Association (2009). Regarding his move to MacDonald Illig, Alberstadt stated, “MacDonald Illig's depth of talent and commitment to community service made the firm the best choice for me...and for my clients.”

A recipient of both the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network Excellence Award and the Pennsylvania Bar Association Pro Bono Services Award, Alberstadt’s list of community and civic involvement is extensive.

Alberstadt’s past and present community involvement has included leadership roles with the Erie County Bar Foundation, the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, Gannon University, Mercyhurst Preparatory School, Catholic Charities, Housing & Neighborhood Development Services, Perseus House and L'Arche.
