New Partners Announced
MacDonald Illig is pleased to announce that Jonathan M. D'Silva and Michael P. Thomas have been named Partners with the firm.
Mr. D'Silva, Chairman of MacDonald Illig's Intellectual Property Group, is a patent attorney who practices various aspects of intellectual property law from prosecuting patent, trademark and copyright applications to drafting agreements for the sale of licensing of intellectual property to the enforcement of intellectual property rights. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural & Biological Engineering from Cornell University in 1998. In 1999, he received his Master of Engineering Degree from Cornell University. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2005. Mr. D'Silva currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the StARTup Incubator, Chair of the Board of Directors for InnovationErie: Design Competition, and Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Purple Martin Conservation Association. Mr. D'Silva is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New York, the District of Columbia and at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Thomas concentrates his practice in the areas Estate Planning, Estate and Trust Administration, Tax and Business Transactions. He works with individuals, closely held companies, and larger entities on estate planning, estate and trust administration, wealth transfer, succession planning, tax, and business matters. He also advises clients on a wide variety of sophisticated business transactions, employee benefit plan matters, corporate governance questions, and business/succession planning issues. Mr. Thomas received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Juniata College in 2002. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University in 2005, where he graduated cum laude and was a member of the Woolsack Honor Society. Mr. Thomas currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Early Connections, Inc., and is a member of the United Way Leadership Giving Committee and the Mercyhurst College Institutional Review Board. He is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and Florida, and is admitted in the United States Tax Court.
