Do I need to get a survey to buy property?
For residential property, a survey generally is not required. However, while a title search of your property will show the chain of title, it will not necessarily show the physical details of the property that a survey will show. If the specific measurements and boundaries of the property are important to you, you should obtain a survey prior to closing. If you plan to build on the property, or expand an existing building, a survey could help you identify any potential issues up front.
