Julia is an attorney at MacDonald Illig and a member of the firm’s Environmental Group. She focuses her practice on environmental law and assists clients with a variety of environmental regulatory and compliance matters. Julia combines her legal training with a background in environmental science to help clients navigate complex environmental issues and identify practical solutions.

Experience and Professional Background
Before joining MacDonald Illig, Julia served as a law clerk for the Vermont Superior Court in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. She also practiced at a law firm in Burlington, Vermont, where her work included litigation matters such as professional liability defense.
During her time in Vermont, Julia also volunteered with Legal Services Vermont, assisting clients through the organization’s Rent Escrow Clinic and Family Law Clinic.
Education and Academic Background
Julia earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Penn State Behrend in 2019, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Behrend Beacon and conducted undergraduate research in environmental science.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2022, an institution recognized for its environmental law programs. During law school, Julia excelled in legal writing and participated as a student clinician in the Vermont Law School Environmental Advocacy Clinic.
In 2022, Julia also earned a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England.
Community Connection
An Erie native, Julia is committed to supporting the local community. She enjoys spending time at Presque Isle State Park and taking advantage of the many recreational and cultural opportunities Erie has to offer.
