My real estate taxes seem too high, should I file an appeal?

“My taxes are too high” is not usually a good reason to file a tax appeal. Taxes are supposed to be based on “market value.” “Market value” is the price at which the property would sell if the seller was not obligated to sell and the buyer was not obligated to buy. You should consider filing an appeal if your property's assessed value is too high, based upon the market value of your property.
